Senior test automation engineer

Senior test automation engineer
For one of our clients in The Netherlands we are looking for an experienced automation test engineer with at least 5 years working experience in test automation. Required language within this position is English or Dutch.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the team’s software is designed correctly and continuously tested throughout the development lifecycle
  • Driving quality deliverables through automation including tools, process, measurement, environment and data
  • Contributing to the elaboration of user stories in order to achieve viable, testable products with clearly defined acceptance criteria
  • Identifying opportunities to adopt innovative testing technologies and techniques as part of a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Create high quality test artifacts such as Test Plans, Test Specifications, Defect Tickets, Defect Reports
  • Contribute in troubleshooting issues and providing the necessary information to facilitate resolution
  • Conduct testing in accordance with the test strategy
  • Validation of the system as a whole to ensure it delivers the intended business requirements and benefit
  • Ensure regular reports including Defect and Test Summary Reports are distributed to stakeholders
  • Worth within the agreed team process and ensure it adheres to overall Test Strategy


Professional qualifications and experiences:

  • Msc degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Tmap, Tmap NEXT/ ISTQB certified
  • At least 3 years working experience in Agile setting
  • At least 3 years practical experience in test automation
  • At least 3 years working experience with the following automation tools and frameworks: Selenium, Tosca, Fitnesse, Cucumber, QTP, SoapUI en Worksoft
  • Experience in developing Test Plans, Test Scripts, Defining Test Data and Reports
  • Ability to write and execute both automated and manual tests (Functional, Non-Functional, Regression, Ad-hoc and Compatibility) to facilitate defect detection and solution validation
  • Ability to understand and translate business and technical requirements into automated or manual tests
  • Ability and willingness to determine when to automate tests and when to adopt a manual approach to testing
  • Team attitude and willingness to lead and to coordinate projects internally
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Works well under pressure: sometimes meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines. At all times demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
  • Effective communication skills with both business and technical audiences
  • Analytical and logical thinking with natural curiosity
  • Ability to adapt and learn and think dynamically on your own
